Don’t drop these keepers!

Why are valve springs so dangerous to remove?! 🛑⚙️ If you are rebuilding an engine's cylinder head, you have to remove the massive metal valve springs! These springs are under hundreds of pounds of pressure. If you try to remove them incorrectly, they can violently shoot across the garage and cause serious injury! To completely solve this dangerous problem, mechanics use a specialized spring compressor! By pushing the tool down onto the spring, they safely lock the heavy tension open. This exposes the two tiny metal "keepers" that lock the spring to the valve stem! Because these pieces are incredibly small and easy to lose, the mechanic simply uses a magnetic wand to safely pull them out one by one!
