Description

In 1964, one magazine clocked a car at 4.6 seconds to 60 mph, faster than a Ferrari. That car was never supposed to exist. We counted down the 20 fastest American muscle cars of the 1960s using the exact 0-60 times magazines recorded at the time, from the Studebaker Avanti all the way to the car that topped every list for sixty years. Along the way: a Hemi Charger that outran its own press kit, a Z/28 built for a racetrack rule, and a Mustang whose factory number still gets argued about today. But the car at number one hides the strangest story of all, a result built for one magazine, by people who knew exactly what that number would do. #ClassicCars #MuscleCars #1960sCars
