The Film You Cancelled. Without Watching It.

In 2019, Damon Lindelof and Nick Cuse tried to invent a conspiracy theory too stupid to be believed. They couldn't. And so they made a film about the one they came up with anyway, and before anyone could watch it, the world went and proved their point. The Hunt was cancelled twice. Once by a series of mass shootings and then by a President who mistook it for the enemy. Then Covid killed what was left. Twelve million dollars, and almost nobody saw the most prophetic film of the last ten years. This is the story of what happened to The Hunt. Why the right thought it was an attack on them and why the left thought it was on their side. But crucially, why the people that actually watched realised it was neither. And why the seat you took while watching all of that, the one that made you feel that you were above the BS, is the one the film was actually built to indict. You didn't miss The Hunt by accident. You cancelled it. Without watching it. How do I know? Because I did too. #TheHunt #Blumhouse #ConspiracyTheories #MoviedromeRedux #FilmEssay #DamonLindelof #BettyGilpin #CraigZobel #CultCinema #VideoEssay #CancelCulture #Trump #FilmAnalysis #HiddenGems #UnderratedMovies
