Description
Want the full plans and specs behind these builds? Build It Once shows you how: https://the-plan-room.netlify.app/
Some old houses have doors you could walk past for twenty years and never notice — and that was often the point. In this video, I walk through nine hidden and flush door styles from older homes, counting them down from the gimmicks to the genuinely useful ones, so you know which are worth copying and which are just a wall you paid extra to make annoying.
I judge every door by three simple criteria: does it give you storage or access, how hard is it to build, and does it still make sense today? Along the way, I cover handle-less latch doors, jib doors hidden in wallpaper, bookcase doors, doors tucked behind paneling, kneewall attic access, under-stair doors and pull-out storage — including the one hidden door that looks so cool but is a nightmare to build. My rule is simple: if a hidden door doesn't give you storage or access, it's decoration.
