The Impossible Reinvention of the Philadelphia 76ers

The Philadelphia 76ers strategy was supposed to be simple. But looking at The Process backwards wasn't... The plan was straightforward: lose, draft stars, and win. Instead, the franchise did almost everything backwards. From Sam Hinkie tearing down the roster to the years of playoff heartbreak, the team became one of the most confusing stories in NBA history. We trace the timeline from where the team ended up back to the beginning, showing how injuries to Joel Embiid and draft mistakes start to connect. By reframing these events, we see how a story that made no sense going forward begins to align once you read it backwards.
