Description

For most of the last century the official answer about wolves in Texas was simple: there aren't any. Then a hunter in the Panhandle shot what he was sure was a coyote, sent it in, and a lab result pointed biologists toward two very different corners of the state. What came back doesn't match the version printed on the museum plaque, and it changes what some of the animals along the Gulf coast actually are. This is what biologists found out about the wolves in Texas, and why the line between wolf and coyote isn't where anyone drew it.
