Description

The Desert War: Fighting Rommel | All Episodes | History Documentary Watch 'The Eastern Front: The Deadliest Theatre of World War II' here: https://youtu.be/N0lThB6Mxvs Part 1: The 'Afrika Korps' Arrives - 00:00:00 Part 2: Victory at El Alamein - 00:45:01 Part 3: Casablanca Conference - 01:26:37 Erwin Rommel is still remembered as a brilliant and apolitical general who brought the British to the brink of defeat in North Africa. But behind the legend lies a far more complex story — one shaped heavily by Nazi propaganda and ultimately ending in disaster. In 1941, as the Italian front in Libya collapses, Adolf Hitler sends Rommel and a small German force to reinforce his struggling allies. With his aggressive tactics and rapid advances, Rommel soon earns a reputation as the “Desert Fox”. Hitler begins to dream of an unstoppable Afrika Korps marching from Libya into Egypt, Palestine and Syria. But the German–Italian advance eventually runs into a formidable obstacle. At El Alamein, British forces under Bernard Montgomery halt Rommel’s ambitions and inflict a decisive defeat. What follows is a relentless retreat across the Libyan desert, as Montgomery pursues the shattered remnants of the Axis army to destroy them once and for all. Military experts examine Rommel’s campaign in North Africa, the decisions that shaped its course and the reasons why the seemingly triumphant advance of the Afrika Korps ultimately ended in defeat — exposing the reality behind one of the most enduring military legends of the Second World War. ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Subscribe to Free Documentary - History Channel for free: https://bit.ly/2FjRPgV Facebook: https://bit.ly/2QfRxbG Twitter: https://bit.ly/2QlwRiI ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ #FreeDocumentary #Documentary #History ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Free Documentary - History is dedicated to bringing high-quality documentaries to you on YouTube for free.
