The Iron Mask: The Secret Finally Revealed | History Documentary Watch 'Hitler’s Secret Science: How Close Were the Nazis to Winning WWII?' here: https://youtu.be/Y44PmQmfE28 For more than three decades, a mysterious prisoner was held in extraordinary secrecy during the reign of Louis XIV. His face was concealed, his movements strictly controlled, and his true identity hidden from the world. Known in surviving records as Eustache Dauger, he was transferred between the royal prisons of Pignerol, Exilles, Île Sainte-Marguerite, and finally the Bastille, where he remained a closely guarded state prisoner until his death. Who was the mysterious Man in the Iron Mask — and why did Louis XIV's government go to such extraordinary lengths to conceal his identity? Was he merely a valet who knew too much, a witness to a dangerous political secret, or a prisoner of state? Or could there be some truth behind the later legend that he was a secret relative of the Sun King himself? Drawing on historical archives, surviving correspondence and the work of historians and researchers, this documentary investigates the evidence behind the most enduring theories surrounding the Man in the Iron Mask. Separating historical fact from centuries of speculation, it explores one of the greatest unsolved mysteries of French history — and the elusive identity of the prisoner whose secret survived until long after his death. ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Subscribe to Free Documentary - History Channel for free: https://bit.ly/2FjRPgV Facebook: https://bit.ly/2QfRxbG Twitter: https://bit.ly/2QlwRiI ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ #FreeDocumentary #Documentary #History ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Free Documentary - History is dedicated to bringing high-quality documentaries to you on YouTube for free.
