Description

Mercedes-Benz puts the new electric CLA through a high-speed crash test at 56 km/h, demonstrating passenger protection and EV battery safety. Mercedes-Benz has put the new CLA through a tough real-world safety test, crashing two moving cars into each other to show how well they protect passengers. In the public crash test, an electrified Mercedes-Benz CLA Shooting Brake hit the driver's side of an all-electric Mercedes-Benz CLA. Both cars were travelling at 56 km/h, making this a much harder impact than a typical low-speed city accident. The results were encouraging. Both passenger cabins stayed intact, and readings from eight crash-test dummies, representing adults and children, stayed below key injury limits. Mercedes-Benz says the results point to a low risk of serious injury in this test. Importantly for electric car safety, the CLA's high-voltage battery was not damaged. The 2026 demonstration went beyond standard crash tests, which usually use barriers rather than two moving production cars. Mercedes-Benz says the CLA's driver assistance features are designed to help prevent crashes like this or reduce their impact. The company also introduced Mercedes-Benz Rescue Intelligence, a system planned for rollout from 2027. It aims to send useful crash information, including airbag status and electric battery condition, to emergency crews before they arrive. The test highlights how Mercedes-Benz is focusing on passenger protection and electric vehicle safety in the new CLA. #mercedes #cla #crashtest #recanything #recda #recdanovoa
