Water in car boot is a common problem especially as the car gets older. It is primarily caused by one or more of the following three reasons:
1. Rubber seal on the brake light wiring harness comes loose due to broken retaining clips
2. The paste around the boot lining starts to crack allowing rainwater to enter inside
3. The rubber seal (weatherstrip) around the boot area starts tearing out.
My video covers all three scenarios and shows you easy fixes for each one of them.
If the leakage is not fixed, water starts accumulating into floor area of boot/dicky and causes rust. The rust quickly spreads and may cover the entire floor area. In my case, two of the drain holes had developed serious rust and were broken, and the entire floor area had surface rust.
