I Restored a 1989 Kawasaki ZXR250 — One of Japan’s Greatest 250cc Legends

In 1989, Kawasaki built the ZXR250 as one of Japan’s most iconic 250cc four-cylinder sport bikes. More than 30 years later, we found this legendary motorcycle in a severely neglected condition. The bodywork was worn and cracked, the fuel tank was heavily rusted, the carburetors were leaking fuel, and the engine needed attention. Instead of letting this ZXR250 disappear into a scrapyard, we decided to give it a second life. We completely disassembled the motorcycle and restored it from the ground up — rebuilding the engine, restoring the carburetors, repairing the fuel tank and bodywork, refinishing the wheels and hardware, restoring the seat, and carefully bringing everything back together.
