This Kidnap SURVIVOR Exposed a Serial Killer

In the remote wilderness of Alaska, a series of disturbing discoveries leads investigators to suspect that a serial killer is targeting vulnerable women. As bodies are found in shallow graves near Anchorage, Alaska State Troopers begin connecting the murders to a growing list of missing persons cases. But identifying the killer proves far more difficult than anyone expected. When 17-year-old Cindy Paulson escapes from a terrifying ordeal involving kidnapping, rape and torture, she identifies local baker Robert Hansen as her attacker. Despite her detailed account, Hansen is released after investigators fail to find enough physical evidence to support her allegations. While others begin to move on, one police officer refuses to abandon the case. As more information about Hansen's criminal history emerges, the FBI is called in to help profile the suspected serial killer. Investigators uncover a disturbing pattern of violent behaviour that appears to match the FBI's predictions, bringing them closer to understanding the man hiding behind the respectable image of a successful businessman and family man. With the investigation intensifying, FBI profilers and Alaska State Troopers work together to build a case strong enough to withstand legal scrutiny. Search warrants are finally approved, and investigators prepare to confront their prime suspect in a case that exposes the dangers of overlooking warning signs and the importance of listening to survivors. This true crime documentary examines the investigation into Robert Hansen, the evidence that brought him under suspicion, and the painstaking work required to build a case against a suspected serial killer. Through witness testimony, criminal profiling and police investigative work, the episode follows the hunt for a killer who appeared to live an ordinary life while concealing a far darker reality.
