Rumi’s Masnavi: A Literary Masterpiece or a Controversial Book? Jalal al-Din Rumi’s Masnavi is one of the best-known works of Persian Sufi literature. Rich in stories, parables, metaphors and spiritual reflections, it has influenced readers and religious thinkers for centuries. Yet the work has also attracted criticism and controversy among some readers and religious commentators. In this Malayalam episode, I examine the literary significance of the Masnavi, the ideas expressed through its stories, and the debate surrounding Sufism and its relationship with the Qur’an and Sunnah. In this episode: - Who was Rumi? - What is the Masnavi, and why is it important? - How do stories and metaphors communicate spiritual ideas? - Why do some critics object to the work? - How should we examine the relationship between Sufi literature and Islamic scripture? - Why do context, interpretation and literary understanding matter? Rather than accepting accusations or praise without examination, let us explore the text, its historical context and the arguments surrounding it. 📖 Watch, think critically and share your perspective respectfully.
