Description

Something WEIRD is Happening in China (And Nobody Talks About It) - On August the nineteenth, two thousand twenty-six, China's National Bureau of Statistics published a number that its own rules were designed to keep low, and the number went up anyway. Seventeen point nine percent. That is the share of Chinese sixteen-to-twenty-four-year-olds, not counting students, who did not have a job in July. A jump of three full percentage points in a single month — the sharpest one-month move for that age group in three years — arriving in the exact season that twelve million, seven hundred thousand new graduates, the largest class the country has ever produced, walked out of their universities and straight into that same market.
