Description

Why did Google create Go when C++, Java, and Python already existed? In this video, we break down the Go programming language, also known as Golang, and the ideas that make it worth understanding. Go takes a surprisingly simple approach to building software. Structs and methods keep your code organized without giant inheritance trees. Goroutines let you work with concurrent tasks, while channels help those tasks communicate. A compiler, garbage collector, and practical tooling round out a language built for getting things done. In about five minutes, you’ll learn how these pieces fit together, why Go is useful for backend development, REST APIs, and cloud infrastructure, and where its simplicity comes with tradeoffs. We also look at its place in the ecosystem behind tools such as Docker, Kubernetes, and Terraform. If you know Python, JavaScript, Java, or C++ and have been wondering what makes Golang different, this is a quick introduction to how Go works and what you can build with it. ☕ Enjoyed the video?
