Description
At 48, she had what most people would consider a successful career.
She was earning more than $90,000 a year, had good benefits, retirement contributions, savings, and a comfortable life.
But there was one thing she never seemed to have enough of — time.
After years of cashing out unused vacation days and telling herself she would travel "someday," she made a decision almost everyone around her questioned.
She left her career, accepted a fully remote job paying around $33,000 a year, and moved to the Philippines alone.
No husband waiting for her. No boyfriend. No retirement.
She still had to work.
At first, the freedom felt exactly like what she'd been searching for. Then the smaller paycheck, unusual working hours, and loneliness started to make her question whether she had made a huge mistake.
And six months after she arrived, her former employer contacted her with an offer that made the decision even harder.
Would she return to the life she knew for more than $100,000 a year?
Or was the freedom she'd found worth more than the paycheck she'd left behind?
This is her story of leaving a successful career, starting over in the Philippines at 48, working remotely, and finally asking herself how long she was willing to keep waiting for the life she wanted.
Would you have taken the $100,000 offer and gone back — or stayed?
