## Introduction
Good morning, respected judges, teachers, and my dear friends.
Today, I am going to explain my biology project, the **Human Heart Working Model with Syringes**.
The human heart is one of the most important organs in our body. It acts as a pump that circulates blood throughout the body. Blood carries oxygen and nutrients to different organs and transports carbon dioxide and other waste products away from them.
This working model demonstrates the basic pumping action of the heart using syringes and transparent tubes.
## Parts of the Human Heart
The human heart has four chambers:
1. Right atrium
2. Right ventricle
3. Left atrium
4. Left ventricle
The heart also has four main valves that help prevent the backward flow of blood. The major blood vessels connected to the heart include the aorta, pulmonary artery, pulmonary veins, and superior and inferior vena cava.
## Components Used in the Model
The main components used in this project are:
- Cardboard or foam board
- Coloured paper
- Syringes
- Transparent plastic tubes
- Coloured water
- Glue and other craft materials
The syringes represent the pumping mechanism, while the tubes represent the blood vessels. The coloured sections represent different chambers and pathways of blood circulation.
## Working Principle
This model demonstrates the principle of fluid movement through tubes using pressure created by a syringe.
When a syringe plunger is pulled, it can draw liquid into the syringe. When the plunger is pushed, it forces the liquid out through the connected tube.
This action helps demonstrate how the heart pumps blood through different pathways.
## How Does Blood Circulate?
First, oxygen-poor blood from the body enters the right atrium through the superior and inferior vena cava.
Next, the blood passes through the tricuspid valve into the right ventricle.
The right ventricle pumps the blood through the pulmonary artery to the lungs. In the lungs, the blood releases carbon dioxide and receives oxygen.
The oxygen-rich blood returns to the left atrium through the pulmonary veins.
It then passes through the mitral valve into the left ventricle.
Finally, the left ventricle pumps the oxygen-rich blood through the aorta to the rest of the body.
This process repeats continuously throughout our lives.
## Importance of the Human Heart
The heart maintains blood circulation and helps deliver oxygen and nutrients to body tissues. It also supports the removal of carbon dioxide and other waste products.
Without effective heart pumping, our organs would not receive the blood supply they need.
## Applications of This Model
This model is useful for:
- School biology exhibitions
- Learning the four chambers of the heart
- Understanding pulmonary and systemic circulation
- Demonstrating the basic principle of pumping
- Explaining the role of major blood vessels
## Conclusion
To conclude, the Human Heart Working Model with Syringes demonstrates the basic pumping action of the heart and the pathway of blood circulation.
It helps us understand how the right side of the heart sends blood to the lungs and how the left side pumps oxygen-rich blood to the body.
Thank you!
Five Viva Questions with Answers
1. How many chambers are present in the human heart?
Answer: The human heart has four chambers: the right atrium, right ventricle, left atrium, and left ventricle.
2. What is the main function of the heart?
Answer: The heart pumps blood throughout the body, supplying oxygen and nutrients and helping transport waste products.
3. What is the function of the valves in the heart?
Answer: Heart valves prevent the backward flow of blood and help maintain one-way circulation.
4. Which chamber pumps oxygen-rich blood to the entire body?
Answer: The left ventricle pumps oxygen-rich blood into the aorta, which carries it to the body.
5. Why are syringes used in this working model?
Answer: Syringes demonstrate pumping by creating pressure that moves liquid through the tubes, representing the movement of blood through the heart and blood vessels.
