Description

Sign up to Milanote for free with no time limit: https://milanote.com/squampopulous0426 One of the core tenets of writing a character is to make them undergo change, but what if they aren’t the ones who need to? What happens when a hero sees their broken world for what it is, and rather than letting it change them, instead just says Nah? Would this break the most important rule of characters? You know, the one that says to develop them? Or is there a way to make this work that actually develops the character even deeper than before? My name is Squampopulous, and on this channel I like to break down why my favorite media works, and try to turn it into original writing advice. After sitting on this question for a while, and rewatching both Across the Spiderverse and a Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, two stories who both feature this archetype of incorruptible heroes, I think I finally found the answer I was looking for. #writingadvice #videoessay #spiderverse #gameofthrones
