No One Painted Nature Like Him

No one has ever painted nature like Albert Bierstadt. His mountains seem to glow from within, his skies open up like cathedrals, and his canvases were so detailed that audiences brought opera glasses to study them. In his time, he sold the most expensive American painting ever purchased up to that point, and his exhibitions became major public events. And yet, he died practically forgotten. In this video we explore the life of the painter who was once told he was not talented enough, the journey west that changed everything, and how his visions of Yosemite and the Rocky Mountains helped shape the way America saw its own land. ► Shop Albert Bierstadt's Paintings at - https://www.inspiraggio.com/collections/shop-all?gf_684867=Albert+Bierstadt ► Shop Art Prints & Canvas at - https://www.inspiraggio.com/collections/shop-all ► Shop Fine Art Phone Cases at - https://www.inspiraggio.com/collections/iphone-cases → Join our FREE newsletter: https://www.inspiraggio.com/pages/newsletter → Follow us on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/inspiraggio → Contact: [email protected] 0:00 Introduction 1:04 Albert Bierstadt 3:16 American West 3:55 The Secret Behind His Success 6:07 The Downfall 7:17 Legacy SOURCES The Art Story — Albert Bierstadt: Paintings, Bio, Ideas https://www.theartstory.org/artist/bierstadt-albert/ Google Arts & Culture — "Who was Albert Bierstadt?" https://artsandculture.google.com/story/who-was-albert-bierstadt/AAUxO2vqqR5LKg?hl=en Smithsonian American Art Museum — Albert Bierstadt https://americanart.si.edu/artist/albert-bierstadt-410 Wikipedia — Albert Bierstadt https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Albert_Bierstadt EBSCO Research Starters — Albert Bierstadt https://www.ebsco.com/research-starters/history/albert-bierstadt Draw Paint Academy — "Albert Bierstadt: Vast and Luminous Landscapes" https://drawpaintacademy.com/albert-bierstadt/ MutualArt — Albert Bierstadt: Life, Art & Legacy https://www.mutualart.com/Artist/Albert-Bierstadt/F18F0F11CC072D1B/Biography Visual Arts Cork — Albert Bierstadt: Landscape Painter http://www.visual-arts-cork.com/famous-artists/albert-bierstadt.htm #arthistory #art Copyright Disclaimer under section 107 of the Copyright Act of 1976, allowance is made for “fair use” for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, education, and research.
