Description
Can you turn an ordinary wok into a working parabolic solar stove?
I decided to find out! I lined a wok with flexible mirror material, turning it into a highly reflective solar cooker that looked like it should be able to concentrate the sun's energy and cook without electricity, gas, or any other fuel.
After building it, I took it outside on a bright sunny day and put it to the test. The idea was simple: find the focal point first, then figure out exactly where a frying pan would need to sit for cooking.
The results were definitely not what I expected!
In this experiment, I'll show you how I built the reflector, how I tested it, what I discovered, and what I would do differently next time.
If you've experimented with parabolic solar cookers or have an idea for improving this design, I'd really like to hear your thoughts in the comments. What would YOU change?
Thanks for watching!
