📘The ebook that explains your DNA test📘 https://theorigindna.com/ Save 15% with code OriginYT They were the most physically powerful humans who ever lived. Upper body strength twice that of modern athletes. Bones shaped by decades of hunting megafauna face-to-face. And yet their genetic signature — the Y chromosome passed from father to son — does not exist in a single person alive today. Not one. That paradox is what this video investigates. The evidence spans three continents and four landmark studies. At Chagyrskaya Cave in Siberia, a 2022 Nature study reconstructed an actual Neanderthal family — a father, a daughter, clusters of relatives — and revealed that Neanderthal males were patrilocal: generation after generation, they stayed. Same community. Same Y chromosome lineages. While females moved between groups introducing new genetic diversity, the males anchored themselves in place until their gene pool was barely viable. Then contact with modern humans began. And what followed wasn't conquest — it was something far quieter and more irreversible. Geneticist Fernando Mendez identified three mutations on the Neanderthal Y chromosome linked to H-Y antigens — proteins that trigger maternal immune responses against male fetuses. Sons were miscarried. Daughters survived and were absorbed into the modern human population. Simultaneously, a fivefold depletion of Neanderthal ancestry on the X chromosome — concentrated in genes expressed only in the testes — confirmed the same conclusion from a completely independent angle: male Neanderthal hybrids were not reproductively viable. The Campanian Ignimbrite eruption 39,000 years ago didn't need to be catastrophic. When every male hybrid dies before fathering children, a volcanic winter only needs to be slightly worse than the one before. The brothers of El Sidrón. The father of Chagyrskaya. Real men. Gone without a trace in the direct male line.
