Description
In August 1986, 16-year-old Deanna Ogg was found murdered near a rural road in Conroe, Texas. Investigators had biological evidence — but no match. Four years later, an innocent man named Roy Wayne Criner was convicted and sentenced to 99 years in prison. DNA evidence proved he didn't do it. The courts denied his appeals anyway.
In 2001, after more than a decade behind bars, Roy Criner was finally pardoned. The real killer? Already gone. Across the border. Into Mexico.
For the next 40 years, Bobby Charles Taylor lived a free life while Deanna's family waited for a name.
Then forensic genetic genealogy changed everything.
This is the story of a wrongful conviction, a cold case that refused to die, and the Texas Rangers who crossed an international border to finish what started in 1986.
