Description

A powerful Nor’easter is wreaking havoc across the U.S. East Coast, bringing major coastal flooding, road damage, massive waves, strong winds, and severe beach erosion from North Carolina to New Jersey. The storm has already caused significant damage across vulnerable coastal communities. In North Carolina’s Outer Banks, extreme tides and ocean overwash breached protective dunes and damaged roughly 500 feet of N.C. Highway 12 near Pea Island, forcing a major closure between the Marc Basnight Bridge and Rodanthe. In Virginia, tidal flooding and dangerous coastal conditions have affected Virginia Beach and the Hampton Roads region. High water, rough surf, strong winds, and power outages have created additional problems, while repeated high tides continue threatening low-lying roads, neighborhoods, rivers, and bays. Delaware’s coastline is also facing serious impacts. Rehoboth Beach, Bethany Beach, Dewey Beach, Fenwick Island, and Lewes remain vulnerable to coastal flooding, dangerous surf, beach erosion, strong winds, and rising water around back bays and tidal waterways. Farther north, New Jersey is facing another dangerous phase of the Nor’easter. Major coastal flooding, powerful winds, high surf, and beach erosion threaten communities along the Jersey Shore, including Cape May, Atlantic City, Long Beach Island, Ocean County, and Monmouth County. This video covers the latest Nor’easter damage and East Coast storm developments across North Carolina, Virginia, Delaware, and New Jersey — including Outer Banks flooding, N.C. Highway 12 damage, Virginia Beach flooding, Delaware coastal flooding, Jersey Shore flooding, road closures, massive waves, strong winds, and severe beach erosion. Conditions can change rapidly with each high tide. Follow the National Weather Service, transportation agencies, and local emergency officials for the latest weather warnings, coastal flood alerts, road closures, and safety information. #NorEaster #CoastalFlooding #EastCoast
