Description
Hurricane Isaias slammed into Florida on October 9, 2026, with 105 mph winds, flooded roads, damaged buildings, overturned camper vans, and major power outages. The Category 2 hurricane made landfall near Destin, bringing destructive conditions to Pensacola, Navarre Beach, Santa Rosa Sound, and communities across the Florida Panhandle.
In Destin, Florida, hurricane rainfall and coastal flooding left roads underwater as Isaias crossed the Gulf Coast. The powerful storm brought damaging winds, dangerous surf, and widespread disruption to coastal neighborhoods, businesses, and transportation routes.
Pensacola experienced severe hurricane winds that knocked down trees and power lines, scattered debris across streets, and damaged buildings. Part of an inn's roof was torn away during the storm, highlighting the destructive force of the hurricane.
Near Santa Rosa Sound, Florida, a weather station recorded an extreme wind gust of 116 mph, with sustained winds reaching 91 mph. These measurements demonstrated the extraordinary force of Isaias as it approached the coastline.
In Navarre Beach, powerful winds overturned multiple camper vans, adding to the visible storm damage across Florida's Gulf Coast. Nearby communities, including Gulf Breeze, Fort Walton Beach, and Okaloosa Island, faced dangerous hurricane conditions.
At Panama City Beach, storm-driven water rose approximately 5.6 feet above the higher high tide reference at a coastal gauge, highlighting the threat of dangerous coastal flooding.
Hurricane Isaias also caused major electricity disruptions across the southeastern United States. More than 911,000 customers across Florida, Alabama, and Georgia were reported without power during the storm. Fallen trees, damaged power lines, flooded roads, and dangerous weather complicated emergency response and recovery operations.
Flights were canceled at DestinβFort Walton Beach Airport, while emergency officials temporarily suspended some operations because conditions were too dangerous.
Isaias reached Category 3 strength over the Gulf of Mexico before weakening and making landfall in Florida as a Category 2 hurricane. By October 10, the storm had weakened after moving inland, although heavy rainfall and flash flooding remained concerns across parts of the southeastern United States.
This video covers Hurricane Isaias Florida 2026, Hurricane Isaias landfall, Destin flooding, Pensacola hurricane damage, Navarre Beach storm destruction, Santa Rosa Sound extreme winds, Panama City Beach coastal flooding, Florida power outages, flooded roads, overturned camper vans, and hurricane damage across the Florida Panhandle.
The reported damage and storm measurements refer to October 9β10, 2026. Conditions and damage assessments may change as additional information becomes available.
