Description

New Mexico flooding hit Gallup as intense monsoon storms triggered flash floods, flooded streets and dangerous conditions across western New Mexico. Heavy rainfall overwhelmed roads and drainage areas, sending fast-moving water through parts of Gallup and damaging homes, businesses and streets. Gallup experienced some of the most significant documented flooding, with multiple streets and intersections completely inundated. Flash flood warnings also covered surrounding McKinley County communities, including Church Rock, Red Rock State Park, Allison, Gamerco and Mentmore, along with portions of Interstate 40. The flooding threat expanded beyond Gallup as monsoon thunderstorms continued across New Mexico. Heavy rainfall threatened normally dry arroyos, creeks, highways and low-water crossings, while repeated storms increased the risk of additional flash flooding across western and southwestern portions of the state. National Weather Service alerts warned that rapidly rising water could create dangerous travel conditions, particularly around flood-prone roads, arroyos and low-lying areas. Drivers were urged to avoid flooded roads as the active New Mexico monsoon pattern continued producing heavy rainfall. This video covers the latest New Mexico flooding, Gallup flash floods, flooded streets, monsoon storms and severe weather impacts across affected communities. #NewMexicoFlooding #GallupFlooding #FlashFlooding
