Róðu (Row) | Old Norse Viking Music | Norse Song

“Róðu” means “Row” in English. This Old Norse song tells of men rowing toward a dark shore, carrying the weight of fathers, mothers, wives, names and unfinished lives. It is a song about courage without glamour, brotherhood at sea, and the fear a man still carries even when his hand holds the sword. Built around a rowing refrain, solemn vocals and a grim Nordic atmosphere, “Róðu” follows the pull of oars, rain, iron and memory. It is Viking music for those who feel the sea, the family left behind, and the name that must be sung if a man does not return.
