Do Cats Really Understand When You Leave? | Toulouse

Why do cats react when suitcases come out? Toulouse explains what your cat may actually understand about packing, travel, and the routines that tell them you’re about to leave. When luggage appears, Toulouse recognizes the pattern: humans may be going somewhere. The problem is that the suitcase does not tell him who is leaving, how long they will be gone, or what will happen to the household afterward. In this Animals Explain episode, Toulouse breaks down how cats learn human routines, why some cats become alert or uneasy when suitcases appear, and how repeated departure cues can become meaningful signals. Toulouse is a real cat. His stories and behavior are based on real life — he just finally gets to explain them himself.
