15 Camping Items That Kept Cowboys Alive That Are Impossible To Find Today

At 2 AM with the thermometer reading nineteen degrees, my headlamp died, my sleeping bag zipper failed, and my breath rained back on my face. Here's what still worked — and why almost nobody sells it anymore. I've worked cattle in the Rolling Plains of West Texas for sixty-four years. In this video, I walk through fifteen pieces of camp gear that were standard in every American camp within living memory — what each one was, why it worked, what killed it, and whether it deserves a place in your truck today. The uncomfortable truth: most of that gear didn't lose because it stopped working. It lost on weight, on price, and to a marketing budget. A thing that lasts forever is a terrible thing to sell. 👉 This Saturday: put a wool blanket behind the seat of your truck. Surplus store, thrift store, or the cedar chest. That's it. Then tell me in the comments — what's the one piece of camp gear your daddy or granddaddy owned that you'd give anything to have back, and what happened to it? I read every one, and the story that gets talked about most is the one I go deep on next. #CampGear #Bushcraft #SurvivalGear #WoolBlanket #Camping #Homesteading #OldGear
