Description

Germany maintains roughly 800,000 tonnes of food across two national reserves, held at about 150 locations whose addresses are kept secret - deliberately, to protect them from looting in a crisis. Rice, lentils, peas, wheat, rye, oats, condensed milk and milk powder. Enough to provide at least one meal a day during a shortage lasting weeks. America built the same kind of emergency food supply in the 1960s - 165,000 tons in 100,000 fallout shelters - and ordered it destroyed in 1976 after it went rancid. The difference between those two outcomes is what each country chose to store, and it's the single most useful long term food storage lesson available. This covers what's in the German reserve, why the locations are secret, why every national stockpile on earth ends up holding the same boring staples, what Germany asks its own households to keep, and the 2026 expansion adding ready-to-eat food. WHAT'S COVERED: - Why the warehouse locations are deliberately hidden. - Why four different countries all store the same boring staples. - Why cereal-based rations fail and rice, lentils and grain don't. - Why every serious government plan is more modest than you'd think. - How Germany's household and national layers fit together. - Why Germany is adding no-cook food and more locations in 2026.
