🌉 Explanation of Hydraulic Bridge Working Model
A hydraulic bridge is a type of movable bridge that uses hydraulic pressure to raise and lower the bridge.
In this working model, water-filled syringes and plastic tubes are used to demonstrate the hydraulic system. When we push the plunger of one syringe, pressure is created in the water. This pressure travels through the tube to another syringe, causing its plunger to move. The movement of the second syringe is used to lift or lower the bridge.
⚙️ How It Works
Water is filled into the syringes and connecting tubes.
When we push one syringe, pressure is created in the water.
According to Pascal's Law, pressure applied to a confined liquid is transmitted through the liquid.
This pressure pushes the plunger of the second syringe.
The second syringe moves the bridge mechanism up or down.
When the pressure is released or reversed, the bridge can return to its original position.
🔬 Science Behind the Model
The main principle is Pascal's Law:
“Pressure applied to a confined fluid is transmitted equally in all directions.”
Hydraulic systems use liquids because liquids are almost incompressible, allowing force to be transmitted efficiently.
🚢 Where Are Hydraulic Bridges Used?
Real movable hydraulic bridges can be used where boats and ships need to pass through a waterway. The bridge can be raised to provide sufficient clearance for vessels and lowered again to allow road traffic to cross.
🎤 Short Explanation for School Presentation
“This is a Hydraulic Bridge Working Model. It works on the principle of Pascal's Law. When we push the syringe, pressure is applied to the water inside the hydraulic system. This pressure is transferred through the tube to another syringe, which moves the bridge upward. By controlling the hydraulic pressure, the bridge can be raised and lowered. This model demonstrates how hydraulic systems are used to produce controlled movement using liquid pressure.”
