Description

Get Linda’s Complete Cleaning Guide — simple cleaning methods for the whole house, all written down: https://lindacleaing.gumroad.com/l/Lindascleaning Get down at your front door and look across your carpet toward the couch. Get low and turn the lamp on. See that gray lane running through the room? Now reach underneath the couch and look at the carpet that hasn’t been walked on for years. That hidden strip may look surprisingly different. You vacuum the traffic lane every week, but somehow it still looks gray. That doesn’t necessarily mean your carpet is finished. Years of tracked-in soil, dust, spills and residue can settle deeper into the pile where ordinary vacuuming doesn’t remove all of it. In this video, I’ll show you the simple test I use before deciding an old-looking carpet needs replacing. THE METHOD: Vacuum the area slowly and thoroughly first. Test any cleaner on a tiny hidden section and make sure it is appropriate for your particular carpet. Prepare it exactly according to its label. Work on one small section at a time using controlled moisture—never soak the carpet. Give the product its recommended contact time without aggressively scrubbing the fibers. Then remove the solution thoroughly and press a clean white towel into the carpet. Lift that towel and look at what came out. That’s the moment that surprises people. Rinse or extract as directed for the product you’re using, remove as much moisture as possible, open the windows, turn on a fan and let the carpet dry completely before judging the final color. THREE THINGS MATTER: Dry dirt should come out dry. Use only the amount of moisture the carpet needs. And give the cleaner the contact time specified on its label. A WORD FROM LINDA: This isn’t a universal treatment for every carpet. Wool, silk, handmade rugs, natural fibers and non-colorfast carpets can require completely different care. Always check your carpet manufacturer’s instructions and test somewhere hidden first. Never mix cleaning products. And remember: cleaning can remove soil, but it cannot reverse fibers that are genuinely worn, faded or damaged. TONIGHT’S TEST: Don’t clean anything yet. Turn on the lamp. Get down at the doorway and look toward the couch. Then check the protected carpet underneath the couch. Is it same or different? Tell me in the comments. And this weekend, try one small compatible section correctly. When you press down that clean white towel and lift it back up, tell me what color you found. Want all of my cleaning methods in one place? I’ve put together Linda’s Complete Cleaning Guide, with practical methods you can follow throughout the house without having to remember every step. 👉 Get Linda’s Cleaning Guide here: https://lindacleaing.gumroad.com/l/Lindascleaning
