Description

Twenty-five years after September 11th, roughly forty percent of the people killed at the World Trade Center have never been identified. That's nearly eleven hundred families still waiting for answers. This video tells the story of the greatest forensic identification effort in American history, and the scientists who haven't stopped working on it. From the 22,000 fragments recovered at Ground Zero to next-generation DNA sequencing, mitochondrial analysis, and a 2026 breakthrough using forensic investigative genetic genealogy, the New York City Office of Chief Medical Examiner has now identified 1,654 victims. Each one took years. Many took decades. We also examine the controversy over where the unidentified remains are kept, and the families who are still waiting, some of whom have already died without knowing. The work continues. So does the promise. #September11 #911Anniversary #ForensicScience #DNAIdentification #NeverForget #WorldTradeCenter #911Victims #GeneticGenealogy #FuneralReport #ConsumerForensics #TrueCrime #911Memorial
