Description

A Russian Buyan-M loaded with eight Kalibr cruise missiles ran for open water off Temryuk, across the strait from Crimea — the one place it believed it could survive. What was waiting out there was never in the sky. A Project 21631 Buyan-M carries eight Kalibr or Oniks missiles in two vertical launch modules, and Russia has used the class to strike Ukrainian cities. Temryuk's harbor reaches the sea only through a dredged channel that silts up and needs constant dredging. In the same bay, a Buyan-M once collided with a civilian tanker while evading an attacking drone, and Ukraine's Defense Intelligence (HUR) has reported hitting a Buyan-M in Temryuk Bay — first its radar, then its hull. Forbes Ukraine has estimated a single Kalibr at about $6.5 million. This video follows a Kalibr warship that did everything right — and why three layers of air defense, a Tor-M2, a Pantsir-S1 and the ship's own guns, each made the correct call and still lost. Analytical reconstruction based on public reporting; some details (timelines, drone counts, crew actions) are dramatized for clarity. 💬 Should the captain have stayed behind the breakwaters — or was running still the right call? 👉 Every week we break down how Ukraine's drones get past Russia's best defenses. Subscribe and you'll catch the next one. ⏱️ TIMESTAMPS: 0:00 — Eight Kalibrs in a Narrow Channel 0:48 — Why Ukraine Wanted It Running 2:58 — The Strike Plan 4:17 — Layer 1: Tor-M2 on the Riverbank 6:08 — Layer 2: Pantsir-S1 Holds Its Fire 7:30 — The Open Water 8:54 — Layer 3: The Ship's Own Guns 11:18 — Three Minutes to Launch 13:58 — Zero of Eight #UkraineWar #RussiaUkraineWar #UkrainianDrones ⚠️ DISCLAIMER: This video is for educational and analytical purposes only.
