War, cyber attacks, pandemics, national power cuts, water failures, AI disruption and wider infrastructure problems all sound very different, but the consequences for ordinary households can look surprisingly similar. The 2026 National Risk Register also sets out the Government's assessment of serious risks facing the UK. The point of this video isn't to predict which emergency happens next. It's to ask a much more useful question. What stops working? If the power goes down, the taps stop running, card payments fail, mobile networks disappear or shops cannot restock, many of the preparations you need are exactly the same regardless of what caused the problem. Food. Water. Medication. Lighting. Backup power. Cash. Communications. A sensible emergency plan. That is what sensible preparedness is really about.
