Description

By September 30, every Medicare Advantage plan and every Medicare drug plan has to send its members the Annual Notice of Change. It lists next year's premiums, deductibles, drug list, doctors and out-of-pocket limit. Do nothing, and every one of those changes becomes your coverage on January 1. Nobody will ask whether you agree. The 10 things to check: 1. Find the letter, or ask your plan to send it again. On Original Medicare alone, you get the Medicare & You handbook instead. 2. Your medicines: removed, moved to a higher tier, prior authorization, step therapy 3. Your doctors: call every office and ask if they are in the network for next year 4. The most you can pay in a bad year. 2027 Medicare Advantage in-network ceiling: $9,850. Original Medicare alone has no yearly limit. 5. Premium and deductible. 2027 Part D out-of-pocket cap: $2,400. Highest drug plan deductible: $700. Insulin: $35 a month. 6. The dates: October 1 start comparing, October 15 to December 7 change plans, January 1 changes take effect, January 1 to March 31 one change for Medicare Advantage members 7. The Medigap door that may not open again, and the trial right 8. When the plan says no: transition fill, exceptions, appeals 9. Cold calls and TV ads: Medicare will never call you to sell you anything 10. Extra Help, Medicare Savings Programs and form SSA-44 Free help: 1-800-MEDICARE (1-800-633-4227) Your state SHIP counselor: shiphelp.org Medicare Plan Finder: medicare.gov/plan-compare Extra Help: ssa.gov/extrahelp This video is educational content and general information only.
