Discover the Bible story of King Joash, the child rescued from Athaliah’s massacre who later turned against the family that saved him. This animated Bible story follows Joash’s journey from a hidden young prince to the throne of Judah—and the decisions that led to his tragic downfall.
When Queen Athaliah tried to destroy the royal family, Jehosheba rescued Joash and hid him. For six years, he remained protected in the house of God while Athaliah ruled. Then Jehoiada the priest gathered support, crowned the seven-year-old Joash, and helped restore worship of the Lord in Jerusalem.
Under Jehoiada’s guidance, Joash did what was right in God’s sight and organized repairs to the Temple. But after Jehoiada died, Joash listened to the officials of Judah, abandoned the house of the Lord, and turned to idols. When Zechariah, Jehoiada’s son, warned the people, Joash ordered him to be stoned in the Temple courtyard.
Foreign attacks, lost treasure, and betrayal followed. The king who had once been saved from death was eventually killed by his own servants.
Based on 2 Kings 11–12 and 2 Chronicles 22–24, this Bible animation explores Joash’s rescue, coronation, Temple restoration, rejection of God’s warnings, and assassination. Follow this dramatic Old Testament account of ancient Judah, royal power, faith, idolatry, and the betrayal of Jehoiada’s family.
