Description

Taking care of your health just got easier – start here with Zocdoc: https://zocdoc.com/deconstructed #sponsored In this Deconstructed video, we rebuilt the HMS Beagle entirely in 3D, piece by piece, to understand how this exploration vessel actually worked. We explore the ship’s structure, rigging, internal layout, and the navigation instruments that allowed it to chart unknown parts of the world with remarkable precision. We also created a cinematic poster inspired by the video, showcasing the HMS Beagle as it would have appeared during her second historic voyage. 👉 Get the poster here, every order helps support the channel so we can keep creating projects like this: https://crowdmade.com/collections/deconstructed/products/deconstructed-hms-beagle-poster *(Giveaway ended)🎁 We are also giving one away. Just subscribe, like this video, and leave a comment below telling us: What surprised you the most about the HMS Beagle? We will announce the winner in our next upload. Details below. Originally launched in 1820 as a Cherokee-class 10-gun brig-sloop of the Royal Navy, the Beagle was later refitted for exploration, with reduced armament and structural modifications to support long survey voyages. She is best known for her second voyage from 1831 to 1836, during which she conducted extensive hydrographic surveys across the globe. On board was Charles Darwin, whose observations during the journey would go on to shape the development of the theory of evolution. Equipped with instruments such as the sextant, chronometer, and azimuth compass, the Beagle could determine its position and direction with remarkable precision, producing charts that remained the standard for decades.
