This video is about Jacques Derrida! I intentionally didn’t try to explain deconstruction or ideas like the trace in this video, because I think it’s more important first to understand the main movement behind Derrida’s thinking. Derrida can feel really confusing at first, partly because his philosophy isn’t presented in a very straightforward or linear way, and I think jumping directly into deconstruction often just makes people even more lost. All of his ideas grow out of one central thought, which is what this video is about. That’s why I wanted to start here, because once you understand it, the rest of Derrida starts to feel much clearer and easier to understand!
