Description

Toothbrush History: From Tree Twigs to Electric Brushes 🪥⏳ Thousands of years ago, people cleaned their teeth by chewing on twigs. Today we have smart electric toothbrushes. Here is how the toothbrush evolved: 🌿 Ancient times: people chewed twigs to clean their teeth. It took a long time, and hard twigs could hurt the gums. 🇨🇳 Around 1498: China made the first bristle toothbrush, using stiff animal hair on a bone or bamboo handle. 🦠 The problem: animal hair holds moisture, so bacteria could grow in it. 🧵 1938: nylon bristles arrived, which were much cleaner. 😬 The next mistake: people thought harder brushing meant whiter teeth. In fact, brushing too hard can cause gum recession and expose the roots of the teeth. ⚡ 1954: the first electric toothbrush was made in Switzerland. Electric brushes vibrate thousands of times a minute and can remove more plaque than manual brushes. Many models also have a pressure sensor that warns you when you press too hard.
