Description

If you want to walk up into this country and come back down alive: www.Otisboone.com There's a coal mine in West Virginia with nineteen men still inside it, sealed behind concrete. The old miners had a belief about men left down there like that, and about what they go on doing in the dark. I'm from Appalachia, and these are the stories coal miners kept among themselves. You'll hear about the Tommyknockers, the little men Cornish and Welsh miners believed knocked on the walls before the roof came down. You'll hear Big John's Ghost from the Federal No. 1 mine at Grant Town, and the dead miner who told his foreman exactly where to dig. You'll hear the old rules about rats, lights and women underground, and why some rooms were shut and never worked again. Then come the real disasters behind the lore. At Avondale in 1869, men and boys built a wall against the bad air. Scotia blew up twice in one week. At Sago, families were told their men were alive. And at Farmington No. 9 in 1968, they sealed the whole mine. If these stories meant something to you, subscribe. There's a lot more under these hills than coal. #Appalachia #AppalachianHorrorStories #CoalMining #CoalMiners #WestVirginia #Appalachian #HorrorStories #TrueStories #Tommyknockers #MineDisaster #AppalachianFolklore #GhostStories #FarmingtonMine #SagoMine #Kentucky #OtisBoone
