The Polynesians Were Never Who We Thought — Dna Revealed Their Hidden Ancestry

Who were the Polynesians, and where did their ancestors really come from? New discoveries in ancient DNA and population genetics are revealing a remarkable story of migration, ancestry, and ocean exploration. Genetic evidence connects the ancestors of Polynesian populations to Austronesian-speaking peoples of East and Southeast Asia, while later population movements introduced additional Papuan-related ancestry into the Pacific. In this video, we explore the Polynesian origins, the mysterious Lapita culture, ancient Pacific migrations, Austronesian ancestry, Papuan genetic influence, and the extraordinary settlement of islands across Polynesia. Genome-wide research has even helped reconstruct the sequence of Polynesian expansion from Samoa toward the Cook Islands, Society Islands, and eventually places such as Easter Island (Rapa Nui). This is the story of Polynesian DNA, ancient ancestry, Pacific migration, Māori origins, Hawaiian ancestry, and human exploration—and how genetics is transforming our understanding of one of history's greatest oceanic civilizations. #polynesianreggae #polynesianresort #polynesian #ancientdna #genetics #lapin #austronesian #pacificislanders #polynesia #maorí #hawaiianhistory #rapanui #dnahistory #humanmigration #ancienthistory
