The Dying King, The Last Gourd, And A Mother's Choice | African Folktale

Experience a captivating African folktale where a mother faces an impossible choice between her dying child and a poisoned king. In the kingdom of Oruma, the beloved ruler collapses during the harvest feast from a mysterious wasting sickness known as the Weeping Sickness, and a treacherous counselor named Dumisa seizes the royal staff. Only a rare golden sunroot flower hidden deep within the deadly Burning Salt Desert can save them both from certain death. Armed with seven clay water gourds marked by her late husband Baraka and accompanied by her stubborn grey donkey Sukari, the widowed herbalist Abeni steps into a scorching wasteland of shifting dunes, howling dust storms, and blinding white salt. Along the treacherous road, she shares her last drop of water with a starving stranger named Jabari, unaware that he holds the key to an ancient royal secret. As an armed assassin named Hamisi hunts her every step and time runs out before the final coronation, Abeni must decide whether to save her only son Kito or the entire kingdom. Watch until the end to discover the true power of mercy, sacrifice, and justice.
