The Scale Never Lies, But the Merchant Paid It To…An African Folktale of Betrayal and Justice

In the heart of Zanzu Valley, honesty was measured by the ancient Truth Scale of Zanzu, a gleaming brass instrument that had never made a single mistake in a hundred years. When fourteen-year-old Naledi, the youngest weigher the market had ever known, finds herself accused of a massive grain shortage, her entire world collapses into a nightmare of public shame and impending banishment. But behind the tragedy lies a web of deceit spun by Obuya, the richest and most ruthless grain merchant in the valley, who stopped at nothing to destroy the scale and force a famine. This emotionally gripping African folktale explores the heavy cost of unyielding integrity, the heartbreaking sting of betrayal from a trusted friend, and the unbreakable bond between a courageous young girl and her fiercely protective, blind grandmother, Mama Ayo. As secrets unravel under the scorching sun and the counterfeit weights begin to melt, you will witness a breathtaking tale of redemption, forgiveness, and courage that proves truth is heavier than all the gold in the world.
