Description

Star Wars has killed hundreds of characters across six decades. Only a fraction of them earned it. The difference is not body count, and it is not how much the audience hated them. Cad Bane tortured a Jedi Master to death and collected his fee within seconds of the body going still. General Grievous escaped so many times that every escape restarted the killing somewhere else. Jabba the Hutt built an empire on slavery in a region where no law could reach him. Pre Vizsla paid criminals to terrorize his own people so Death Watch could arrive as rescuers. Pong Krell told two clone platoons the same lie and let them slaughter each other in the dark. Those are the easy cases. The list gets harder from there. Nute Gunray financed a galactic war from behind a desk and walked free after four separate trials. Grand Moff Tarkin destroyed a planet with less hesitation than signing a supply order. Count Dooku was right about the Republic's corruption and chose atrocity anyway. Darth Maul had his childhood stolen and spent the rest of his life passing that damage to people who never wronged him. Darth Vader was genuinely redeemed, which raises a harder question about whether redemption cancels what he owed. Then there is Sheev Palpatine, who is not on this list because he committed the most crimes. He is here because he dismantled every system built to stop him until killing him was the only option anyone had left. And there is one group on this list that looks guilty and is not. What separates them from everyone else is the entire point. This video covers Canon material only, drawing from the Revenge of the Sith novelization, The Phantom Menace novelization, The Empire Strikes Back novelization, Lords of the Sith, Dooku: Jedi Lost, The Clone Wars: Stories of Light and Dark, and the films and animated series to build a standard for what "deserved to die" actually requires.
