Description
Scientists just revealed why we can never reach 95% of the universe, not even at the speed of light. In this video, we ride a beam of light from Earth and see how far it can go. We pass the Moon, the Sun, Mars, and every planet. We catch up with Voyager 1, the farthest machine humans have ever built, and travel on to Proxima Centauri, the center of the Milky Way, and the Andromeda Galaxy.
You’ll learn how time dilation works near the speed of light. You’ll see how a ship moving at 1g could carry you across the galaxy in about 20 years, while 27,000 years pass on Earth. Then we look at the James Webb Space Telescope’s deepest images, the expanding universe, and dark energy. Together they explain why light leaving Earth today can only reach galaxies within about 16.5 billion light-years, and why more than 95% of the galaxies we can see are out of reach forever.
If you love space, physics, and mind-bending science facts, like the video and subscribe so you never miss an episode. Tell us in the comments: would you take a one-way trip at nearly the speed of light?
Next episode: Venus, and the lander that survived just over two hours on its surface.
