Description

In 1807, a heavily abridged Bible was published specifically for enslaved people in the British West Indies. It contained portions of only 14 biblical books, while passages concerning liberation, slavery, and resistance were left out—including the central story of the Israelites' escape from Egypt. This mini-documentary examines the history of the so-called Slave Bible, why its contents were selectively edited, what remained, and how enslaved Africans and their descendants ultimately developed their own interpretations of Christianity and biblical ideas of freedom. #AfriEye #BlackHistory #SlaveBible #Slavery #AfricanAmericanHistory #HistoryDocumentary
