Tanngrisnir & Tanngnjóstr (Goats of Thor) | Old Norse Viking Music

Tanngrisnir & Tanngnjóstr, translated as Teeth Barer and Teeth Grinder, are the two goats of Thor in Norse mythology. They pull his chariot through thunder and storm, die by the fire, and rise again through the power of Mjölnir when their bones remain whole. This Old Norse Viking song follows their mythic cycle of sacrifice, rebirth and loyalty to Thor. Heavy Nordic rhythm, ancient words and a storm driven atmosphere shape the sound of Nordic Versecraft. Thor calls us through the night, forward into rain and battle. Tanngnjóstr: My horns shine, the earth will tremble, fire runs across the clouds. Brother, run, the day will die, yet we wake anew. Both: Ride, ride, goats of Thor, Tanngrisnir, Tanngnjóstr. We die tonight, we rise in the sun, Tanngrisnir, Tanngnjóstr. Do not break our bones, lay them inside the hide. The hammer strikes, life draws near, we rise again anew. Tanngrisnir: Our flesh burns by the bright fire, blood falls down in silence. Thor sits quiet, guests are eating, the night still stretches far ahead. Tanngnjóstr: Yet beneath the hide life is hidden, our bones are sleeping there. Morning comes with Mjölnir above us, then death is far away. Tanngrisnir: If one bone is secretly broken, the morning step grows lame. Tanngnjóstr: And though my foot is wounded, still I carry my Thor. Both: Tanngrisnir, Tanngnjóstr, tooth against tooth in thunder. Tanngrisnir, Tanngnjóstr, life ran out from the bones. Both: We die tonight, we rise in the sun.
