Description

The NTSB’s preliminary report raises difficult questions about the fatal NewsChopper4 crash in Chatsworth, Los Angeles. In this video, I examine the reported warning sounds, flight path, emergency landing options, and questions surrounding crash-resistant fuel tanks. Using Microsoft Flight Simulator, I reconstruct possible scenarios to explore the challenges the pilot faced above a densely built industrial area. I also explain why an aircraft’s ground track doesn’t necessarily tell us which direction its nose was pointing. (Find my previous video here: https://youtu.be/bH3I9q7ngNo) Topics include: - High and low rotor RPM warnings - Ground track versus aircraft heading - Autorotation and limited landing options - Crash-resistant fuel tanks and their test limits - Impact forces and questions about survivability The simulator recreation illustrates a possible scenario based on stated assumptions, including nose heading. It is not a verified reconstruction. This analysis draws on preliminary information; the cause, fuel tank installation status, and whether a different tank could have changed the outcome remain unresolved. My condolences go to the families, friends, and colleagues of George Marciniw, Eliana Moreno, and Edy Mejia. #NewsChopper4 #AviationSafety #Helicopter #NTSB
