Description

A saw blade doesn’t always need replacing when it starts dragging through the wood. Sometimes, it just needs to be cleaned—and a little paraffin wax can go a surprisingly long way. I learned this kind of shop knowledge from the people around me, where a grocery-store block of canning wax could have just as much use in the workshop as it did in the kitchen. It’s a simple way to keep pitch and resin from building up on a blade, reduce heat and friction, and get more life out of good tools. There’s more to taking care of a tool than buying a new one when it quits working right. Sometimes the better answer is understanding why it changed and knowing how to bring it back. #Woodworking #ShopTips #ToolMaintenance #PracticalKnowledge #DIY
