I’m Walt Hensley, an independent farm equipment mechanic with forty-two years of experience in Iowa. I examine twelve bad tractor buys using recall notices, court filings, EPA guidance, auction data and farm industry reporting, covering models and categories from John Deere, Kubota, Kioti, Solectrac and Monarch. I’ll also explain how to check recalls, DEF software updates, dealer support, EPA emissions certification, parts availability and rollover protection before you buy new or used. Some of these are good machines with one serious issue, while others may leave you with little support when something breaks.
